Ripon, CA 95366
Market dates continuing EVERY THURSDAY through August 29!
🌿Volunteer Shout Out! We have amazing volunteers who have been helping us build our new home, Studio Joy Garden. Check out a little about them!
This is Liz Solis! Liz is new to volunteering with OVYG but she already is one of our most dedicated helpers! She came out multiple times to help with the water line installation and is a very hard worker. We look forward to seeing her as we continue to build and enjoy the garden!
Liz you are incredible and we are so grateful to have you with us!
Here's someone who has been so instrumental in the building of our garden, Herman Drost!
🌿Herman is an engineer with Waterford Irrigation and has donated many hours of his time to finalizing our water plans, helped us streamline the garden design, and make best use of the materials we had donated for the water installation. He has spent many, many evenings and mornings out at the garden, volunteering his time to this project and we cannot thank him enough for his expertise and generosity! We are so grateful, thank you!!!
⭐️ We would like to shout out another amazing person who has done so much for the garden, Dan Vogel!
🌳Dan is one of our volunteers, and handyman extraordinaire! He single-handledly trimmed and prepped all the old almond trees at the property before Love Ripon in April, has helped with planning and the water line installation. We love him, his enthusiasm for the project, and look forward to continuing to work with him!
Thank you Dan!!!

Over the course of the past two weeks, we have had over 30 volunteers spend 190 individual volunteer hours on our water line installation! And we're basically done with the bulk of the work! Stay tuned for what comes next.
And thank you to Andrew for putting together our shed donated by Strand Ace Hardware in Escalon!
Thank you to everyone who helped and worked so hard last night continuing our water pipe installation! We have another work morning scheduled this weekend! For you early birds out there, this is perfect to get outside before it gets hot.
Join us at the garden from 6am-10am, this Saturday, the 22nd!
929 W. Main, Ripon
Words cannot express our gratitude for everyone helping with this project. This is probably our biggest and most complicated work project at the garden and we are so appreciative for everyone's time.

We had an amazing week last week and we’re sure it will continue this week!
Our volunteers got our lot marked, trenched, and a huge portion of the water lines installed.
We need help this Wednesday, June 19, 6:30-8pm to continue water installation. No experience necessary - just the ability to follow instructions. Please email us at firstname.lastname@example.org or call 209-818-7177 if you can help! Teens and adults welcome.
Even though it was well over 100 degrees yesterday, our amazing volunteers marked ALL of our one acre lot! Now what is left is trenching! If you can help this week (Thursday the 13th, Friday the 14th, or Saturday morning the 15th), please call us at 209-818-7177!
Last week the Sipma family were very helpful and disced the lot! We've had a lot of spring rain and therefore a lot of weeds.
On Monday, JD Sikkema came out to laser level the lot and made a huge difference in making the space graded and eliminated many low spots in the garden.
Tonight, June 11, our team was out in the muggy heat and completed ALL the marking necessary for our water lines! Our work week will continue on June 13, 14, and 15 with trenching and irrigation pipe installation. If you can help at all, please contact us at email@example.com! Water is provided and a lunch on Saturday, the 15th, so please RSVP!

Tonight we had a quick dig around the water box. In preparation for our irrigation installation day, planned for Saturday June 15, two of our volunteers came out to check the connections behind Studio Joy and to finalize the valves and pipe needed to run our main connection line.
We still need help for marking the lot! If you can help us in the evening, please email us! It will be a simple process of staking out pathways, water lines, and water access points, based on our water plan under the direction of our irrigation guys.
Hello supporters and friends!
We want to thank everyone who has been involved with our garden so far, either by donating, volunteering, or just spreading the word!
Read below for project updates, how your donation dollars are being spent, and more!
Please plan to join us at the garden, June 15, at 8am!
After months of planning and working to put together the donations of parts from irrigation companies, we have a team of guys ready to help lead our irrigation installation starting on Saturday, June 15! This project will involve trenching the main water lines, laying and gluing pipes, installing sprinklers for our lawn area, and other related tasks.
We will provide coffee, water, and snacks as a thank you to our helpers. No irrigation experience is necessary, just the ability to follow directions. Teens 15 years and up are welcome as well as adults. No young children please.
If you are able to help us with our irrigation installation, please email us to RSVP!
Pathways and Hardscaping
Once our irrigation installation is complete, our next phase is going to be marking and installing the pathways. We will be using decomposed granite for the walkways around our lawn and planting beds; this material will allow us to have accessible walkways that will remain much more weed-free over the long run than just using bark. Our goal is to build a garden that will last and be as easy to maintain for our volunteer team as possible!
We are reaching out to local gardening centers and landscaping companies for donations for this phase, but your monetary donations also will make a huge difference and make this next phase easy to complete! Please consider donating towards our building fund through our GoFundMe account.
Once we have the funds and/or donated supplies in place, we will be able to start doing this hardscaping project.
After the pathways and edging are installed, we will be able to work on the next big project, our lawn! This is another large line item in our project budget and we are working to find the most economical and water-wise planting choice for this area. Our budget estimates the lawn planting cost (for the plants alone as we use volunteers for labor right now) will be between $5-7,000, depending on the choice of ground cover. The lawn area will be a large space with shade trees, perfect for the community to gather on, exercise, and use for relaxation!
We are in need of more tools for our garden and we accept donations of used tools or monetary donations via our GoFundMe page. Our needs include wheelbarrows (4-5), shovels, rakes, clippers, a weed eater, and trowels. Contact us if you'd like to contribute!
In addition to asking for donations through our online donation site, our team has been working hard applying for several grants that apply to our non-profit. In the past we've been blessed to be awarded three grants, and we hope that we will be able to announce soon that we have been chosen. So stay tuned!
